Actor Vin Diesel faces sexual assault allegations by former assistant

04:21 23.12.2023

Vin Diesel, the star of the Fast & Furious franchise, has been accused of sexual battery by his former assistant, Asta Jonasson. In a lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles court, Jonasson alleges that Diesel assaulted her in an Atlanta hotel room in 2010 while they were working on the movie Fast Five. According to the lawsuit, Diesel forcibly groped Jonasson's breasts and kissed her after he had spent a night entertaining multiple women in his suite at the St Regis hotel. The lawsuit claims that Diesel ignored Jonasson's clear statements of non-consent and forced her to touch his penis. Jonasson yelled for him to stop, but he then pinned her against a wall and performed a sex act on himself before letting her go. A few hours later, Jonasson was allegedly contacted by Diesel's sister, Samantha Vincent, who runs his production company, and was subsequently fired. Jonasson is also suing Vincent and Diesel's production company for wrongful termination.

Diesel's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has categorically denied the allegations, stating that this is the first he has heard of the claim, which is over 13 years old. Freedman claims that there is clear evidence that refutes these "outlandish allegations."

The lawsuit also claims that Jonasson remained silent for years, afraid to speak out against one of the world's highest-grossing actors and fearing that she would be ostracized from the industry. Jonasson is one of many women who have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry since the #MeToo movement began in 2017.

Vin Diesel, whose real name is Mark Sinclair, has been a major figure in Hollywood, starring in high-grossing films such as the Fast & Furious franchise and Guardians of the Galaxy.

In a separate report, it is mentioned that the lawsuit contains graphic information about the alleged assault. Jonasson claims that Diesel forcibly grabbed her, pinned her against a wall, and performed a sex act on himself. She alleges that she was fired hours later and felt like a "piece of trash" with her self-esteem demolished.

According to the lawsuit, Jonasson was hired by Diesel's production company, One Race Productions, in 2010 as an assistant. Her first assignment was working on the movie Fast Five, where she organized parties and catering for Diesel. She alleges that one night, while fulfilling her work duties, Diesel assaulted her in his hotel suite. Jonasson claims that Diesel groped her and forced her to touch his penis before eventually releasing her.

Jonasson's lawsuit accuses Diesel, his sister Samantha Vincent, and One Race Productions of discrimination, wrongful termination, and creating a hostile work environment. The lawsuit seeks damages for lost wages, emotional distress, and punitive damages.

Diesel's attorneys and representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.

This is not the first time that prominent figures in the entertainment industry have been accused of sexual misconduct since the #MeToo movement gained momentum in 2017. Jonasson's lawyer, Claire-Lise Kutlay, hopes that her client's decision to come forward will help create lasting change and empower other survivors.
