His son, Patrick, recently announced that he will be organizing a memorial service in January to honor his father's remarkable career. According to Ryan O'Neal's death certificate obtained by Fox News Digital, his cause of death was congestive heart failure, with cardiomyopathy listed as an underlying cause. The National Institute of Health explains that cardiomyopathy, a condition that affects the heart muscle, can make it challenging for the heart to effectively pump blood. O'Neal passed away at St. John's Medical Center, and he was laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary on December 20.

In addition to his successful acting career, Ryan O'Neal was famously known for his relationship with Farrah Fawcett. The couple was together from 1979 to 1999, before rekindling their romance in 2001 until Fawcett's death in 2009 after battling cancer. O'Neal is survived by four children, including Tatum O'Neal and Griffin O'Neal, and five grandchildren.

Days after Patrick's announcement, his siblings revealed that they were not invited to the funeral service. Griffin expressed his disappointment at not being invited, while Tatum, who has had a strained relationship with her father, also did not receive an invitation. Redmond, who is currently incarcerated at a state hospital in California, was also not included.
