North Carolina customers viciously assault Chipotle worker over extra food charge

06:46 31.12.2023

A Chipotle worker in Charlotte, North Carolina, was brutally attacked by two customers, Jamel Williams, 36, and Kayla Pyle, 34, after a dispute over an extra charge for chicken. The incident occurred on December 10, when Williams and Pyle placed an order at the Chipotle. When Pyle requested extra protein, the 20-year-old worker informed her that it would cost more, leading to a heated argument between the two. The worker was allegedly so upset by the interaction that she decided to end her shift early and go home.

As the worker was leaving the restaurant, Williams, who is much larger than her at 6-feet 3-inches tall and 300 pounds, entered from a different side and approached her. According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, Williams pushed her to the floor and began hitting her, pulling her hair, and jerking her around. Pyle then joined in and also struck the victim. A video posted online shows the attack unfolding, with the Chipotle worker falling to the ground and curling up to protect herself. Customers can be heard yelling at the attackers to stop, but Williams continues to assault the worker, even launching a massive uppercut at her.

The police were called to the scene, but Williams and Pyle had already fled in a Dodge Charger by the time officers arrived. The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, with the help of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, was able to identify the suspects through witness descriptions, store video, and video taken by a witness. Arrest warrants were issued on Wednesday, charging Williams with assault and battery in the first degree and charging Pyle with assault and battery in the second degree.

Sheriff Barry Faile condemned the assault, stating that it was completely unjustified. He expressed hope that the victim has recovered from her injuries. Fox News Digital reached out to Chipotle for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent incidents at Chipotle restaurants. Earlier this month, an Ohio woman was sentenced to work at least 20-hour weeks for two months at a Chipotle after she threw a burrito bowl at an employee's face. The judge in that case criticized the woman's response, stating, "You didn't get your burrito bowl the way you like it and this is how you respond?"

The village of Indian Land, where the attack took place, is located on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina, approximately 20 miles northwest of Charlotte.
