David Schwimmer challenges skeptics of Hamas sexual assaults: 'Where is their outrage?'

23:51 31.12.2023

Actor David Schwimmer, best known for his role as Ross Geller on the hit TV show "Friends," recently took to Instagram to criticize activists who ignore or question the sex crimes committed by Hamas terrorists towards Israelis. In his blistering critique, Schwimmer, who is Jewish, emphasized the importance of believing survivors and called out those who refuse to acknowledge the evidence of these crimes.

Referencing a recent investigation by The New York Times into sexual assaults at the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war, Schwimmer expressed his support for organizations and individuals who have been fighting for survivors of rape and sexual assault. He questioned why so many people refuse to believe the women, children, and men who were brutally assaulted by terrorists on October 7th, despite the overwhelming evidence captured on camera and in testimonies.

Schwimmer went on to argue that many advocates for sexual assault survivors will fight passionately for victims of sexual violence, but when it comes to Jewish victims, they conveniently deny or ignore the atrocities committed against them. He accused these individuals of having an unconscious bias and suggested that this article might finally make them realize their mistake and confront their biases.

The actor highlighted that by refusing to believe the survivors, these advocates are re-traumatizing them, as well as their families, friends, and those who did believe them. Schwimmer's Instagram post was not his first comment on the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. In a previous statement, he criticized university presidents for failing to condemn antisemitism during hearings, calling them morally bankrupt. He questioned why there was no outrage among students, faculty, and alumni demanding their resignations, an official apology, and enforcement of codes of conduct.
