In a tragic incident that has left a community in shock, a 10-year-old boy in Sacramento County, California, shot and killed another child using a stolen gun he had found in his father's car. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Foothill Farms community, and both the boy and his father have been taken into custody.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call of a shooting at around 4:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Greenholme Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, also a 10-year-old boy, unresponsive and bleeding from his head and neck in the parking lot. Despite their efforts to administer CPR and other life-saving measures, the child was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Witnesses at the scene informed deputies that the individuals responsible for the shooting had fled into a nearby apartment. Law enforcement officials promptly called out all the occupants of the apartment and detained them without incident. Among those detained was the adult suspect, 53-year-old Arkete Davis, and his 10-year-old son, who had taken the gun from inside his father's vehicle when he went to get cigarettes.

The 10-year-old boy allegedly bragged about his father owning a gun before proceeding to shoot the victim once and then fleeing into the nearby apartment. Detectives later found a firearm in a nearby trashcan, believed to have been disposed of by Davis. The recovered firearm had been reported stolen in 2017, and Davis was legally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm.

The 10-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and has been taken to the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility. Meanwhile, Davis faces several felony firearm-related charges, as well as charges of child endangerment and accessory after the fact. He is being held on $500,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 3.

The identity of the victim has been revealed as Keith KJ Frierson, according to family members. The name of the suspected shooter is being withheld due to his status as a juvenile. It is unclear at this time whether the suspects have obtained legal representation. The Sacramento County Public Defender's Office has not yet responded to requests for comment.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible gun ownership and storage. The stolen firearm used in the shooting highlights the need for stricter measures to prevent unauthorized access to firearms. As the community mourns the loss of a young life, authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
