Assistant director David Halls, who handed the gun to Baldwin, claimed that he believed the weapon was unloaded. Halls pleaded guilty to unsafe handling of a firearm and received a six-month probation sentence. Filming on “Rust” resumed in early 2023 and concluded in May of that year.
