Taylor Swift donates $100,000 to family of woman killed in Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl celebrations

Taylor Swift, the popular singer-songwriter, has made two generous donations totaling $100,000 to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the woman tragically killed in a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl victory parade. The donations were made on a GoFundMe page titled "Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan Memorial," which was set up to raise funds for the victim's family. The page had a goal of collecting $75,000, but Swift's contributions quickly pushed the total beyond that amount.

Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old radio DJ known as Lisa G, was celebrating the Chiefs' Super Bowl win with her husband, son, and countless other fans at Union Station when the shooting occurred. She was a beloved figure in the Kansas City Hispanic community and worked as a co-host on a local radio station. The GoFundMe description describes her as an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

The shooting left 22 others injured, half of whom were under the age of 16. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, but authorities believe it may have stemmed from a dispute. Two juveniles have been taken into custody, and police are working to determine if others were involved.

Swift, who is currently dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was not present at the parade due to her ongoing tour in Melbourne, Australia. However, her representative confirmed the legitimacy of the donations, and The Associated Press independently verified the posts on the GoFundMe page.

The news of Swift's donations has garnered attention, as she has a history of using her wealth to support causes and individuals in need. In 2015, her multiple donations to a young girl battling leukemia prompted GoFundMe to raise its maximum donation cap from $15,000 to $50,000.

Swift's contributions have been a significant boost to the Lopez-Galvan family, who are now able to access vital financial support during this unimaginable tragedy. The outpouring of support from the community and Swift's heartfelt message of condolences have provided some comfort to the grieving family.

The Kansas City Chiefs organization has also expressed their condolences and confirmed that all players, coaches, staffers, and their families are safe and accounted for after the shooting. The team's star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce both shared their shock and sadness over the incident, emphasizing their love for the city and its people.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, described as an extrovert and devoted mother, leaves behind two children and her husband of 22 years. Her tragic death has deeply affected the community, but the overwhelming support and generosity shown by Taylor Swift and others on the GoFundMe page serve as a reminder of the unity and compassion that can arise in the face of tragedy.
