Suspect arrested in double shooting at University of Colorado dorm

02:56 20.02.2024

A Michigan man, Nicholas Jordan, 25, was arrested in Colorado Springs on Monday on first-degree murder charges related to the fatal shooting of two people in a dormitory at the University of Colorado campus. The victims were identified as Samuel Knopp, 24, a senior studying music at the university, and Celie Rain Montgomery, 26, who did not attend the school. The police stated that the suspect and the victims knew each other, and the incident was not a random attack against the school or other students at the university. The arrest came after an arrest warrant was issued on Friday, following the discovery of the bodies in Crestone House on the campus. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs was closed over the weekend, with Monday classes canceled for a "day of healing" to remember the victims. Students and officials held a healing walk on campus, laying flowers at a marble statue of a mountain lion, the university's mascot. The investigation is ongoing, and the motive for the shooting has not been provided by the authorities. Nicholas Jordan is being held on $1 million bond in El Paso County jail and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
