A horrific stabbing rampage in Rockford, Illinois, on Wednesday afternoon left four people dead and seven others injured, with a suspect in custody. The victims included a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man. Five people were injured in Rockford, while two others were injured in Winnebago County. The Rockford Police Department responded to multiple addresses in the area of Holmes Street, Winnetka Drive, and Cleveland Avenue following calls for medical and police assistance. The suspect, a 22-year-old man, was apprehended by 1:35 p.m.

Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana reported a home invasion in the area, where a young woman was stabbed in the face and hands while trying to escape. A Good Samaritan who came to her aid also suffered stab wounds. The motive behind the attacks remains unclear, and authorities do not believe there are any other suspects at large.
