Police Investigating Suspicious Disappearance of Pastor's Wife and Friend in Oklahoma

14:19 02.04.2024

Authorities in Oklahoma are investigating the suspicious disappearance of two women, Veronica Butler, 27, and Jilian Kelley, 39, who never showed up to pick up children as planned. The Texas County Sheriff's Department issued an endangered missing persons advisory for the women after their vehicle was found abandoned on the side of a road near Oklahoma State Highway 95. Butler's stepmother and father revealed that Veronica had been involved in a heated custody dispute, although it is unclear whose children the women were going to pick up. Both Butler and Kelley are presumed to be friends, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

The involvement of multiple agencies, including the OSBI and the state's Highway Patrol, indicates the seriousness of the case. The OSBI described the disappearance as suspicious and is working around the clock to find the women. Butler, who has red hair, green eyes, and several tattoos, was last seen wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt, denim shorts, and Hey Dudes shoes. Kelley, who has brown hair and blue eyes, was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, white-washed blue jeans, and tan or beige-colored shoes.

The Willow Christian Church in Indianola, where Kelley's husband is the new minister, posted a message on Facebook asking for prayers for the safe return of the women. The church encouraged attendees to leave messages of support for their families during this difficult time. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Butler and Kelley is urged to contact the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The case remains ongoing, with no suspects identified and no threats reported against the women.
