Ex-Auburn Football Player's Wife Arrested in Murder Plot

11:48 02.08.2023

In a shocking turn of events, a mother of three from Georgia has been arrested and charged with plotting to kill her estranged husband, who happens to be a former Auburn University football player. Lindsay Shiver, 36, was apprehended by Bahamian police after they accidentally stumbled upon her alleged scheme while investigating an unrelated case. Two individuals, identified as Terrance Bethel, 28, Lindsay's lover, and Faron Newbold, 29, were also arrested in connection with the murder plot.

The startling discovery came to light when local police searched the phone of a suspected burglar at Grabber's Bar and Grill in Great Guana Cay, Bahamas. To their astonishment, they found a series of incriminating texts detailing Lindsay's alleged plan. At this time, it remains unknown which of the three suspects owned the phone in question.

This case takes an even more intriguing turn as it is revealed that Lindsay and Robert Shiver own a property in the Bahamas, near where Lindsay supposedly met her lover, Bethel. The couple's marriage began to unravel when Robert allegedly discovered Lindsay's affair, leading him to file for divorce in April on grounds of "adulterous conduct." In response, Lindsay made accusations of "physical and mental cruel treatment," including incidents of domestic violence.

Despite the bitter legal battle, the couple continued to reside together in their lavish 8,000-square-foot Georgia mansion, along with their three children. In the divorce petition, Robert is seeking primary physical custody of their children, sole ownership of their $2.5 million home, and argues against Lindsay receiving any alimony. Citing her marketing degree from Auburn University and her ability to support herself, Robert claims that Lindsay does not require financial assistance.

Lindsay, under her maiden name, had previously been crowned Miss Houston County in 2005 and was the second runner-up in the National Peanut Festival pageant that same year. Meanwhile, Robert, a former Auburn football player, had signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent but was ultimately released before the start of the 2009 season. He currently holds the position of executive vice president at the Senior Life Insurance Company.

The Shivers' seemingly perfect marriage, filled with luxurious vacations on yachts and exclusive resorts, came crashing down when Robert uncovered Lindsay's alleged affair. The revelation sparked their divorce and an ensuing custody battle over their three sons. However, Lindsay vehemently denied engaging in an illicit affair and accused her husband of financial manipulation and cutting her off financially. She also claimed to have suffered physical, mental, and emotional abuse at Robert's hands. As a result, she requested primary custody, alimony, child support, and sole use of their home, citing concerns for her safety and having installed additional locks for protection.

Originally scheduled for July 18, the divorce proceedings were postponed to October 31 due to Lindsay's arrest for the alleged murder plot. Lindsay, Bethel, and Newbold were subsequently transported from Great Guana Cay to Nassau, where they appeared in court on Friday. The three defendants are currently in jail awaiting their next hearing, scheduled for October 5.

This shocking case has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the lengths individuals may go to in the midst of a bitter divorce and custody battle. As the investigation continues, it is expected that further details will emerge, shedding more light on this disturbing incident.
