Targeted killing: Family of 4 shot dead in Chicago-area home

20:57 20.09.2023

In a shocking development, authorities have announced that a man suspected in the quadruple murder of a family in a Chicago suburb was found dead inside a burning car in Oklahoma. The man, identified as Nathaniel Huey Jr., 31, from Streamwood, Illinois, was allegedly involved in a relationship with a woman who was also considered a person of interest before being reported missing and in danger by her family. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was found critically wounded in the burning vehicle along with Huey.

The gruesome murder of Alberto Rolon, 38; Zoraida Bartolomei, 32; and their two young boys, ages 7 and 9, has sent shockwaves through the quiet suburb of Romeoville. The family, along with their three dogs, was found shot to death in their home on Sunday night. Police quickly ruled out murder-suicide and stated that the incident appeared to be a targeted attack.

Cristiana Espinoza, 25, of Streamwood, Illinois, revealed that her mother had dated Huey for about eight years and that they had all lived together for that duration. According to Espinoza, Huey had become increasingly suspicious and had started pushing them away in recent months. She described him as a "huge manipulator" and stated that he had changed from the person she had initially met.

Espinoza disclosed that Huey used to own a security company and had access to multiple weapons. She also revealed that he had last worked at a machinery warehouse. Investigators have been in contact with Espinoza to gather information about Huey and her mother, but details about the agency or timing of the conversation have not been provided.

The authorities in Romeoville had named Huey as a suspect in the slayings and had been actively searching for him. On Wednesday, a license plate reader in Catoosa, Oklahoma, captured a car linked to Huey. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it sped away, resulting in a crash. Officers at the scene reported hearing what they believed to be gunshots and found the man dead in the driver's seat and the woman critically wounded.

Deputy Police Chief Chris Burne of the Romeoville Police Department indicated that evidence pointed to a connection between the suspect and the victims, as well as a possible motive. However, he declined to elaborate on the motive, stating that the investigation was still ongoing. The Will County Major Crime Task Force has joined the investigation to gather additional evidence and video footage.

The devastating loss of this family has left the community of Romeoville in mourning. Mayor John Noak expressed his condolences and described the incident as heartbreaking, especially with the involvement of children. The police department has assured the public that the case remains their top priority, and they continue to seek information from the community, including any doorbell video that may provide additional clues.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any relevant information. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as new details emerge.
