Trump Takes Lead in Critical States as Voters Reject Biden, Poll Reveals

09:59 07.11.2023

In a highly anticipated rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald J. Trump, voters in crucial battleground states are expressing deep dissatisfaction with their limited options and are increasingly curious about alternative candidates, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., according to recent polls conducted by The New York Times and Siena College.

The polls reveal that both Biden and Trump are viewed unfavorably by a majority of voters in these states, with a surprising one-fifth of voters expressing dislike for either candidate. Furthermore, enthusiasm for the upcoming election has dramatically declined compared to the previous poll conducted before the 2020 contest, reflecting a sense of frustration and malaise among voters.

This dissatisfaction has led voters to consider alternative choices, as shown when respondents were asked about the most likely 2024 matchup between Biden and Trump. Astonishingly, only 2 percent of those polled expressed support for another candidate. However, when Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s name was introduced as an option, nearly a quarter of respondents stated they would choose him. It is important to note that this figure may overstate Kennedy's support, as two-thirds of those who indicated they would back him had initially claimed they were definitely or probably going to vote for one of the two frontrunners.

The poll results encompass registered voters in six battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The findings suggest that Kennedy is not necessarily perceived as a fixed political figure in the eyes of voters, but rather serves as a vessel for expressing discontent with the choices offered by Biden and Trump.

Meanwhile, President Biden finds himself trailing behind Donald J. Trump in five out of the six crucial battleground states, only holding a narrow lead in Wisconsin. The polls reveal significant doubts about Biden's age and widespread dissatisfaction with his handling of the economy and various other issues. The margins of support for Trump over Biden among registered voters range from three to ten percentage points in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

These latest poll results highlight the challenges and uncertainties surrounding the 2024 election. With voters feeling disillusioned and seeking alternatives, the political landscape remains highly volatile. As the rematch between Biden and Trump looms ahead, it is clear that the dissatisfaction and discontent among voters could potentially impact the outcome and shape the direction of American politics.
