Kate Middleton, Prince William ignore questions on "racist' scandal: "Did you watch the Piers Morgan show?'

04:56 01.12.2023

In a highly anticipated public appearance, Kate Middleton and King Charles made their first outing together after being named as the previously anonymous royals who allegedly questioned the skin color of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's child. The couple attended a gathering at Windsor Castle in England, where they posed for photos with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden. This appearance comes just after the explosive episode of "Piers Morgan Uncensored," in which the British broadcaster revealed Middleton and Prince Charles as the individuals Markle claimed raised concerns about their unborn son's skin color. The revelation was initially made during Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, but the names were accidentally mentioned in Dutch copies of Omid Scobie's new book, "Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival."

Scobie's book has been temporarily pulled from shelves in the Netherlands to remove the references. Morgan, however, asserts that Charles and Middleton are indeed named in the book, although the Post cannot independently confirm this. Despite the controversy surrounding them, Middleton appeared unfazed as she smiled in a forest green dress and matching heels. Prince William also seemed cheerful in a suit, displaying a rare public display of affection by holding hands with his wife. On the other hand, Charles was not present at the gathering as he was in Dubai, where he is set to give a keynote speech at the COP28 climate change conference. During an event in Dubai, he was reportedly asked by Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about his well-being, to which Charles replied, "I'm all right, very much, just about."

Scobie, the author of the controversial book, spoke to ITV's This Morning and expressed his frustration about the accidental revelation of the names. He claimed that he had "never submitted a book that had their names in it," referring to Charles and Middleton. Scobie emphasized that this information was not exclusive to him, as journalists across Fleet Street had known about these names for a long time but had adhered to a code of conduct when discussing the matter.

During another public appearance, William and Middleton attended the Royal Variety Performance, where they were bombarded with uncomfortable questions about Scobie's book. The Dutch translation of the biography was swiftly removed from shelves after accidentally revealing the names of the royal family members who expressed concerns about Archie's skin color. Piers Morgan, during his show, named Charles and Middleton as the individuals in question. In a video captured by People reporter Simon Perry, William and Middleton were seen refusing to answer questions about the scandal as they walked the red carpet. Despite the inquiries, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge maintained straight faces and continued without providing any responses.

Earlier in the day, Middleton and William had greeted Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden at Windsor Castle, appearing upbeat despite the ongoing controversy. The English edition of Scobie's book did not name the accused royals due to libel laws. Publisher Xander is now grappling with how to handle the situation, stating that they have received a request to put the title on hold and are awaiting further instructions.

While Middleton and William faced questioning at the Royal Variety Performance, Charles made a separate public appearance in Dubai. President Tinubu of Nigeria asked Charles about his well-being, to which he responded, "I'm all right, very much, just about.".
