Romantic Farewell: Suzanne Somers Laid to Rest in Custom Timberland Boots

14:36 06.12.2023

Beloved actress Suzanne Somers, known for her role in "Three's Company," was laid to rest in a pair of custom-made Timberland boots that held a special meaning for her and her husband, Alan Hamel. In an interview with People magazine, Hamel shared the story behind the boots, explaining that they were for their daily hikes together. The couple lived next to mountains in both Malibu and Palm Springs for 50 years, and hiking was a part of their early morning routine. Hamel wanted to make the gift personal, so he drew on the boots with a few words that represented their life together, such as "In Love Forever" and "We Are One."

Although Somers was known for her love of designer heels, Hamel felt that wearing Manolo Blahniks for her final trip would have been predictable and impersonal. He wanted something that would symbolize their shared adventures and the safety the boots provided on their hikes. Whenever Somers put on the Timberlands, she would say, "I am wearing you, and my boots will keep me safe."

On October 16th, the day Somers would have celebrated her 77th birthday, her family gathered to remember her extraordinary life. Instead of a birthday celebration, they toasted to her memory and her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly. A private family burial took place that week, followed by a memorial at the Stone Eagle Club in Palm Desert, California, on November 30th. Friends and family paid tribute to Somers' life and legacy during the celebration, which included a video montage of her career, heartfelt toasts, and even a performance by her granddaughter Daisy.

Another memorial service is scheduled to take place later this week in Somers' hometown of San Bruno, California. Guests are encouraged to wear colorful cocktail attire with sparkles and feathers, in true Suzanne fashion. Hamel described the Palm Springs memorial as "Tequila & Tributes" themed and mentioned that the event was upbeat and filled with love. He read the last love letter he wrote to Suzanne, which brought tears to his eyes.

Suzanne Somers battled breast cancer for more than two decades and passed away peacefully at her home in Palm Springs, with her son Bruce and Hamel by her side. She was a beloved actress and a beacon of strength and love. Her legacy will be remembered in the moments shared at both memorials, and a video compilation will be released later this month to honor her extraordinary life.
