Teen wanted in fatal gang mix-up stabbing of college freshman Denzel Bimpey in NYC's Flatiron District

Police are intensifying their search for 18-year-old Thierno Bah, who is believed to be connected to the fatal stabbing of Bronx resident Denzel Bimpey on December 15th in Manhattan. The victim's sister, Godslove Bimpey, is now urging Bah's family to turn him in, stating that he doesn't deserve to be on the streets and that she hopes they understand the pain her family is going through.

The incident occurred at around 10:40 p.m. on the corner of East 26th Street and Park Avenue South, in what investigators believe was a case of mistaken identity between rival gangs. Bimpey, an 18-year-old freshman at SUNY Morrisville, was on his way back home to the Bronx for the Christmas holidays when an argument broke out between his group and a group of alleged Six Blocks of Harlem gang members on the bus. Bimpey's group repeatedly emphasized that they were not involved in any gang-related activities, according to NYPD officials.

Tragically, the dispute escalated when the bus arrived in the Flatiron District. As commuters were gathering their belongings, one of the alleged gang members launched a vicious attack on Bimpey, repeatedly slashing him in the chest, shoulder, and arm. Bimpey and his friends attempted to flee, but the young student collapsed from his wounds while his assailant made a swift getaway. Bimpey was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The NYPD has not disclosed the specific connection between Bah and the deadly crime, but they have confirmed that he has no prior criminal history. The police suspect that the incident is linked to an ongoing feud between the Six Blocks of Harlem and the Nine Blocks gang in the Bronx. The authorities have already taken an unidentified person of interest into custody, but as of Friday, no charges had been filed.

This tragic incident has added to the growing concern over the rise in stabbings and slashings throughout the city this year. According to NYPD data, there has been a 6% increase in these violent crimes across all five boroughs, totaling nearly 5,000 cases. As Bimpey's grieving family continues to seek justice, they are pleading with the public to remember the kind-hearted and promising young man that Denzel was. They are determined to honor his memory and ensure that his name is never forgotten. The NYPD is urging anyone with information about Bah's whereabouts to come forward, as they work tirelessly to bring closure to this heart-wrenching case.
