Florida man makes "dirt angels' while hiding from cops following Christmas Eve car crash, bizarre video shows

In a bizarre incident on Christmas Eve, a Florida man identified as Eliezer Armando Reyes Rios, 34, managed to evade law enforcement after being involved in a single-vehicle car crash in Tampa. Before authorities arrived at the scene, Reyes Rios fled, leading deputies on a wild chase that ended at a construction site.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Reyes Rios made his way into the construction site by climbing over a fence, where he was soon spotted by the sheriff's Aviation Unit. In a video captured by the helicopter, Reyes Rios was seen laying down in a pile of soil, making what officials described as "dirt angels." He even took the opportunity to make phone calls while casually lounging with his arms behind his head.

The pilot of the helicopter alerted the deputies on the ground, describing Reyes Rios' relaxed demeanor. However, his moment of leisure was short-lived as he quickly sprang to his feet and attempted to flee over another fence. Unfortunately for him, three deputies and a K-9 unit were waiting on the other side, and he was apprehended.

Reyes Rios now faces several charges, including leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a canceled, suspended, or revoked license, and trespassing on a construction site. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office jokingly referenced the holiday season in their social media post, stating, "Dashing away he hid in the dark. Down a pit in the soil he lay, at times perhaps feeling the holiday spirit, making 'Dirt Angels' & making calls on his phone. Then he rose! He sprang to the fence, up & over, only to find, not eight tiny reindeer, but 3 deputies & one dutiful K-9."

The sheriff's office expressed their gratitude to the Aviation Unit for their vigilance, humorously remarking, "Thanks to our Aviation Unit, who didn't see a big jolly man in red on Christmas Eve but instead found the man playing in dirt." This strange and comical incident serves as a reminder that even during the holiday season, law enforcement is always on the lookout for those who break the law.
