Third person arrested in connection with the killings of pregnant Texas teen and her boyfriend, police say

In a shocking turn of events, a third arrest has been made in the shooting death of a pregnant Texas teenager and her boyfriend. San Antonio police announced on Wednesday that Myrta Romanos, 47, has been charged with three felonies, including altering, destroying, or concealing a human corpse, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. This arrest comes one week after Christopher Preciado, 19, was charged with capital murder and his father, Ramon Preciado, 53, was charged with abuse of a corpse.

The victims, 18-year-old Savanah Nicole Soto and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Matthew Guerra, were reported missing in late December before their bodies were discovered in Guerra's car a few days later. Both Soto and Guerra were found with gunshot wounds. The couple disappeared just a day before Soto, who was nine months pregnant, was scheduled to be induced to give birth.

According to San Antonio Police Department Lt. Michelle Ramos, Romanos is believed to be a stepmother to Christopher Preciado, and all three suspects lived together. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in the arrests, as Romanos was seen leaving and returning to her home in a truck with Christopher and Ramon Preciado on the night of the murder. Additionally, the gun used in the killings belonged to Romanos.

Detectives had suspected early on that a third person was involved in the murders, but there wasn't enough evidence at the time to confirm Romanos' involvement. However, with the help of surveillance footage and other evidence, police were finally able to make the arrest.

San Antonio Police Department Chief Bill McManus revealed that a video was released shortly after the murders, showing two persons of interest. One was seen driving a dark Chevy Silverado with a bed cover, while the other was seen driving Guerra's Kia Optima. This video was recorded in close proximity to where the bodies were found, just a few days before their discovery.

Ramos stated that the police had been aware of the possibility of a third suspect due to information circulating on social media. However, they needed enough probable cause to make the arrest, which they were able to gather through their investigation.

The arrest of Romanos sheds new light on the motive behind the murders. Police believe the incident was a botched drug deal, as Guerra was known to sell drugs and would often post about it on Instagram. Christopher Preciado allegedly arranged to buy marijuana from Guerra and Soto, which led to a confrontation resulting in the fatal shootings.

The families of the victims have been devastated by the loss and are seeking justice. Soto's family had contacted the police when she missed an essential medical appointment, as she was past her delivery date. The unborn child, whom Soto had planned to name Fabian, was also tragically killed.

As the investigation continues, San Antonio police are confident that there are no more suspects involved in the killings. The arrests of Christopher Preciado, Ramon Preciado, and now Myrta Romanos have brought some closure to the case, but the community remains in shock over the senseless violence that claimed the lives of two young individuals and an unborn child.
