In a surprising turn of events, actor Ryan Gosling has expressed his disappointment over the Oscars nominations, specifically the snubs of his Barbie co-star Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig. Gosling, who received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Ken in the blockbuster film, stated that he was honoured to be recognized but believed that Gerwig and Robbie deserved nominations in their respective categories.

In a statement shared with US media, Gosling expressed his gratitude for the nomination and acknowledged the remarkable artists he is nominated alongside. He also emphasized the importance of Gerwig and Robbie's contributions to the film, stating that there would be no Ken without Barbie and no Barbie movie without the two women. Gosling praised their talent, grit, and genius and expressed his disappointment that they were not recognized.

Gosling further commended Gerwig and Robbie for their groundbreaking work on "Barbie," noting that they made audiences laugh, broke hearts, pushed the culture, and made history. He believed that their work should be recognized alongside the other deserving nominees. Despite his disappointment, Gosling expressed his happiness for his co-star America Ferrera, who received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Gloria in the film.

Ferrera also voiced her disappointment over Gerwig and Robbie's snubs, particularly highlighting Gerwig's achievements as a director. She praised Gerwig for creating a world and making Barbie a global phenomenon, despite it initially lacking inherent value to most people. Ferrera also commended Robbie for her magical and effortless performance, stating that she brought heart, humor, depth, joy, and fun to the character.

British record producer Mark Ronson joined in supporting Gerwig and Robbie, acknowledging their efforts in bringing Barbie to life. Ronson, who received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for the power ballad "I'm Just Ken," praised Gerwig's kaleidoscopic vision and Gerwig and Robbie's contributions to the film's success.

The disappointment over Gerwig and Robbie's snubs extends beyond the film's cast and crew. American singer Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell, who were nominated for Best Original Song for the Barbie soundtrack song "What Was I Made For?," also expressed their support for Gerwig and Robbie. Eilish and O'Connell recognized the impact Gerwig had on the film and the inspiration she provided for their work.

Despite the snubs, Barbie received a total of eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. The film's success at the box office, grossing over $1.4 billion worldwide, solidified its status as the highest-grossing movie of the year. Gerwig's nomination for Best Picture also marked her historic achievement as only the third-ever female director to be nominated in the category.

The Oscars ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will take place on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The event will be broadcast live, and fans of Barbie and its cast and crew will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of the nominations.
