Tragic Discovery: 3 Chiefs Fans Found Frozen to Death Outside Friend's Home

11:00 24.01.2024

Three men were found dead in the backyard of a Kansas City home after freezing to death following a celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs victory. The bodies of Clayton McGeeney, 36, David Harrington, 37, and Ricky Johnson, 38, were discovered two days after they were last seen at the residence of their friend, Jordan Willis. The homeowner claims to have gone to bed before his friends left and was unaware of their deaths until the police arrived at his door. Law enforcement is investigating the deaths, but foul play is not suspected. The cause and manner of death have not been confirmed pending an autopsy, but the attorney for Mr. Willis, John Picerno, stated that the men seemingly died of hypothermia due to the below-freezing temperatures that weekend. It remains a mystery how the bodies went undiscovered for two days.

The Kansas City Police Department is looking into whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident and toxicology reports are expected in the coming weeks. Captain Jake Becchina emphasized that the case is not being investigated as a homicide and no arrests or charges have been made. The homeowner has been cooperative with the investigation.

Family and friends of the deceased have taken to social media, questioning the motivations of the homeowner and claiming that they had sent numerous messages to him in the days before the police were called. However, Mr. Willis's attorney stated that he had no knowledge of the bodies in his backyard and did not hear the two people who came looking for the men as he sleeps with earbuds and a loud fan. He also did not notice their cars parked on the street as it was not unusual for them to leave their cars there overnight.

The identities of the three men have been confirmed as Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson, and David Harrington. They were found dead on the night of January 9 after one man's fiancee called the police when her partner did not return home. One body was discovered on the back porch of the home, while the other two were found in the backyard. Police have stated that there are no obvious signs of foul play and are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Neighbors expressed shock and concern over the tragic incident, with one neighbor speculating that carbon monoxide poisoning may have been a factor due to the sudden drop in temperatures. The investigation is ongoing, and the homeowner's attorney has expressed his client's condolences to the families of the deceased and his desire to get answers regarding their deaths.
