Pennsylvania Man Arrested for Decapitating Father and Displaying Head on YouTube

11:34 31.01.2024

A shocking and gruesome crime has left a Pennsylvania community in shock and authorities investigating a disturbing video that circulated on social media. Justin Mohn, a 32-year-old man from Pennsylvania, has been charged with first-degree murder and abusing a corpse after allegedly killing his father, Michael Mohn, and displaying his decapitated head in a YouTube video. The video, which has since been taken down, showed Mohn wearing gloves and holding his father's head in a plastic bag. Later in the video, the head can be seen in a cooking pot.

According to reports, Mohn espoused right-wing conspiracy theories and made inflammatory statements in the 14-minute-long video. He denounced his father as a traitor, claiming that he was a longstanding US government employee, and called for the death of all federal officials. Mohn also attacked President Joe Biden's administration, the Black Lives Matter movement, the LGBTQ community, and Antifa activists.

The video garnered over 5,000 views on YouTube before it was removed. YouTube stated that the video violated their policies prohibiting graphic violence and violent extremism. The company also terminated Mohn's channel. This incident has raised concerns about social media platforms allowing violent and graphic content to be posted and remain on their sites.

The investigation into the crime began after police received a report of a deceased male at a residence in Upper Orchard Drive, Middletown Township. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered Michael Mohn's body in the bathroom. The victim's wife had made the emergency call. Justin Mohn, the person of interest, was apprehended approximately 100 miles away in Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, near a National Guard training base. He was arrested with the assistance of civilian and state police.

Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla confirmed that Justin Mohn is the son of the victim. It was revealed that there had been prior contact between Mohn and law enforcement, with some interactions dating back 10 years. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities plan to hold a news conference to provide further updates.

The disturbing nature of the crime and the content of the video have shocked the community. Mohn's arrest and the removal of the video from YouTube have brought some relief to the neighborhood. However, the incident has also highlighted the challenges faced by social media platforms in monitoring and removing violent and extremist content. Mohn is currently being held without bond and is scheduled for a hearing on February 8th.
