Jackson Mahomes sentenced to probation in battery case

19:48 08.03.2024

Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has been sentenced to six months of unsupervised probation after pleading no contest to a sexual battery charge. The sentencing came after prosecutors dropped three felony charges of aggravated sexual battery in January due to a lack of cooperation from the accuser. The remaining misdemeanor battery charge stemmed from an incident at a restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas, where Mahomes allegedly shoved a waiter and grabbed the owner's neck, forcibly kissing her. The woman, who was the owner of the restaurant, refused to testify in the case, citing death threats and harassment she received. Jackson Mahomes appeared for his sentencing hearing via video conference and pleaded guilty to the single misdemeanor count of battery. Following his sentence, he was taken into the custody of the Johnson County Sheriff's office, which will determine if he is eligible for work release.

This legal issue involving Jackson Mahomes is not the only recent brush with the law for the Mahomes family. Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of both Patrick and Jackson Mahomes, was arrested in Texas in February on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Despite the legal troubles, Patrick Mahomes Jr. continues to excel on the football field, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory in February. He has also been supportive of his brother throughout the legal process, stating that it is a personal matter that he prefers to keep to himself.

The Mahomes family has faced challenges, with Patrick and Jackson's mother, Randi, speaking out against what she described as "fake allegations" against Jackson. She expressed relief that the charges were dropped and emphasized that the family is focused on moving forward. Jackson Mahomes' attorney, Brandan Davies, stated that his client simply wanted the case to be over with and to move on with his life. The matter is now closed, and no further statements will be issued.
