Bronny James, the 18-year-old son of NBA superstar LeBron James, experienced a terrifying moment during a basketball practice at the University of Southern California (USC) on Monday. He suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, prompting a frantic 911 call and immediate medical attention.

The 911 call, which was released on Thursday, captured the panic and urgency in the moments following the incident. The caller pleaded for an ambulance, emphasizing the need for immediate assistance. When asked if there was a doctor or nurse present, the caller responded that there was not.

Fortunately, help was already on the way, as the dispatcher assured the caller that the fire department and paramedics were en route. Bronny, a 6-foot-3 combo guard recruit, was reportedly unconscious during the practice at USC's Galen Center. He was quickly transported to the hospital by ambulance, although the cause of the cardiac incident remains unclear.

Bronny was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and placed in the intensive care unit. However, by Tuesday, he was in stable condition, and on Thursday, he was discharged from the hospital. According to Cedars-Sinai, he had made good progress and was resting at home.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Group issued a statement expressing gratitude for the swift and effective response of the USC athletics' medical staff in treating Bronny's sudden cardiac arrest. They emphasized the importance of ongoing medical evaluations to determine the underlying causes and make informed decisions about his recovery and potential return to the basketball court.

LeBron James, Bronny's father, took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the support his family has received during this challenging time. He thanked the countless people who have sent love and prayers and assured everyone that his family was safe and healthy. LeBron promised to share more when they were ready and expressed how much the support meant to them.

Bronny James, a five-star recruit, is eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft. His cardiac arrest raises questions about the potential impact on his basketball career, but doctors have stated that it is too soon to determine this, as it depends on the underlying causes of the incident. The medical staff at Cedars-Sinai remains hopeful for his continued progress and is encouraged by his response and the support of his family and community.
