Lindsay Shiver's Family Devastated by Arrest in Murder-for-Hire Plot against Estranged Husband

04:56 03.08.2023

In a shocking turn of events, Lindsay Shiver, a former beauty pageant queen and stay-at-home mom, has been arrested in the Bahamas for her alleged involvement in a murder-for-hire plot targeting her estranged husband, Robert Shiver. The news has left Lindsay's family distraught, with her grandfather, Tom Shirely, expressing his sadness, shock, and disappointment upon learning of her arrest. Speaking to The Post, Shirely described the situation as a "crying shame" for Robert, their three children, and everyone else involved.

The Shivers were once seen as the epitome of an ideal family, living in a luxurious $2.5 million mansion in Thomasville, Georgia, and frequently taking extravagant trips to their vacation home in the Bahamas via private jet. However, their seemingly perfect life came to an abrupt end when Robert filed for divorce on April 5, accusing Lindsay of infidelity. In response, Lindsay claimed in court documents that Robert had a history of violence towards her and was attempting to cut her off from his finances.

Despite the allegations made in the divorce proceedings, Shirely, who was close to the family, stated that he never witnessed any signs of domestic abuse and described Robert as a "good fellow." He expressed his disappointment and disbelief at the situation, wondering what could have led Lindsay to allegedly plot her husband's murder.

In the midst of the contentious divorce, Lindsay, along with her alleged lover, Terrance Bethel, and Faron Newbold, were arrested in the Bahamas. The arrest came after local police stumbled upon the alleged murder plot while investigating another case. Text messages detailing the scheme were discovered on a phone belonging to a suspected burglar at a local establishment.

Following their arrest, Lindsay, Bethel, and Newbold were held at the Fox Hill Prison in Nassau. However, Robert's cooperation with prosecutors led them to recant their objections to Lindsay's release on bail. She was granted bail on a $100,000 cash bond and agreed to wear an ankle bracelet, remain in the Bahamas, surrender her travel documents, and have no contact with Robert. Bethel and Newbold were each granted $20,000 bail and were also required to wear tracking devices and report to the Marsh Harbour Police Station three times a week.

Meanwhile, Robert has returned to Thomasville, Georgia, with their three young children, who are yet to be informed about their mother's alleged involvement in the plot to kill their father. Robert expressed his concern for his children and mentioned that he planned to break the news to them soon.

The divorce proceedings between Lindsay and Robert have been contentious, with both parties making serious allegations against each other. Lindsay denied having an extramarital affair with Bethel and accused Robert of domestic violence, cutting her off financially, and subjecting her to physical and mental cruelty. The divorce case is ongoing, with Lindsay scheduled to be deposed in October.

As this shocking and complex case continues to unfold, Robert remains hopeful that everything will eventually work out. However, the revelation of the alleged murder-for-hire plot has undoubtedly shattered the once picture-perfect image of the Shiver family.
