Jake Paul and Conor McGregor trade insults on social media

15:21 07.08.2023

In a highly anticipated fight on Saturday night, Jake Paul emerged victorious over Nate Diaz in the boxing ring, securing a unanimous decision and improving his record to 7-1. However, Paul's victory was not the only highlight of the evening, as he wasted no time in responding to his detractors outside of the ring, particularly former UFC champion Conor McGregor.

Following the fight, McGregor took to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to unleash a scathing critique of both Diaz and Paul. McGregor likened the YouTube star to pro wrestling legend Jake The Snake Roberts and did not hold back in his choice of words, referring to Paul as a derogatory term. McGregor also floated the idea of a trilogy fight against Diaz, with whom he has a history in the octagon, having been defeated by Diaz in March 2016 via submission, only to bounce back with a win in their rematch in August 2016 via split decision.

Not one to back down from a verbal battle, Paul fired back at McGregor in a post on X, expressing his indifference towards the former UFC champion's insults. Paul dismissed McGregor's comments, labeling him a "coked out, juice up, sh-ty cheap whisky drinking fool" and accusing him of being a selfish, self-centered, and salty drug addict who has done nothing for other fighters. Paul also made it clear that he has no interest in boxing McGregor, stating that he wants to face Nate Diaz in the world of MMA and challenge more professional boxers like Canelo Alvarez.

While McGregor's boxing career has been less than successful, with a record of 0-1 after his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a highly publicized bout, Paul remains focused on his own path in the sport. At the post-fight news conference, when asked about the possibility of facing McGregor in the ring, Paul expressed his disinterest, stating that McGregor needs to go to rehab. Instead, Paul reiterated his desire to compete in MMA and face fighters like Nate Diaz, as well as professional boxers like Canelo Alvarez.

It is worth noting that McGregor has not competed in any capacity since sustaining a leg injury in his fight against Dustin Poirier in 2021. Despite serving as a coach on "The Ultimate Fighter," McGregor has yet to secure a date for a matchup against his opposing coach, Michael Chandler.

In the end, Jake Paul's victory over Nate Diaz has not only solidified his record in the boxing ring but also sparked a heated exchange between the YouTube star and Conor McGregor. As both fighters continue to voice their opinions and aspirations, fans eagerly await what the future holds for these polarizing figures in combat sports.
