Arizona Woman's Worst Nightmare: Snake Found in Toilet

08:47 12.08.2023

In a shocking turn of events, an Arizona woman, Michelle Lespron, discovered a pink coachwhip snake residing in her toilet when she returned home from a short trip on July 15. Lespron recounted the harrowing experience, stating that she lifted the lid of the toilet bowl only to find the snake curled up inside. Thankfully, the lid had been closed, preventing any direct contact with the reptile.

Panicked, Lespron immediately contacted Rattlesnake Solutions, a Phoenix-based company specializing in snake removal. The employee who serviced her house was able to capture a video of the snake before removing it. The 20-second viral clip shows the snake being pulled out of the toilet bowl, hissing at the camera, and even appearing to bite the employee's hand. Lespron explained that she received numerous messages from concerned family, friends, and even people she went to high school with after the video was posted by Rattlesnake Solutions. Most viewers expressed horror at the encounter, considering it their worst nightmare.

While some initially believed the video to be a prank, Lespron's father attempted to wrangle the snake later that night, but it managed to escape. The following morning, Lespron contacted Rattlesnake Solutions once again, and their expert handler, whom she fondly refers to as her hero, made three attempts before successfully capturing the black and pink coachwhip snake. The handler skillfully wrestled the snake with one hand while recording the entire process on his cellphone. The snake, measuring between 3 to 4 feet long, was then released into a natural habitat away from Lespron's home.

Bryan Hughes, the owner of Rattlesnake Solutions, revealed that while coachwhip snakes occasionally find their way into homes, it is still a rare occurrence. These snakes, characterized by their slender and fast-moving nature, typically reside in deserts and prefer scrubland, mesquite dune habitats, and grasslands. Fortunately, coachwhip snakes are non-venomous, offering some relief to Lespron.

However, the unsettling encounter left a lasting impact on Lespron. She refrained from using her main bathroom for three weeks, opting instead for her guest bathroom. Additionally, she now avoids using the bathroom in the dark and always checks under the lid before sitting down.

This incident adds to the list of snake encounters in toilets worldwide. In 2021, an Austrian man had a 5-foot python slither through his toilet drain while he was using it, resulting in minor injuries. In another incident in 2020, a California man discovered a rattlesnake in his toilet and promptly called animal control for assistance. In 2017, a Texas family was horrified to find a rattlesnake in their toilet, followed by the discovery of dozens more beneath their house. A similar incident occurred in 2018 when a snake was found slithering in a toilet bowl, prompting the homeowner to advise others to "look down before you sit down."

Overall, this bizarre and spine-chilling encounter serves as a reminder to always remain cautious, even in seemingly safe spaces like our own bathrooms.
