Zuckerberg and Musk's Epic Battle: Italy's Colosseum Ruled Out

17:30 12.08.2023

Tech billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk are gearing up for an epic showdown in Italy, as they continue their ongoing feud. The clash between the two titans of the tech world has been building since the launch of Zuckerberg's social network Threads, which directly challenges Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter). Musk initially challenged Zuckerberg to a fight in June, an offer that Zuckerberg eagerly accepted.

In a recent post on Threads, Zuckerberg declared, "I love this sport, and I've been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you'll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on." Zuckerberg even shared an image of himself sparring in his "backyard octagon" to emphasize his readiness for the fight.

Musk, who is more than a decade older than Zuckerberg, has also been preparing for the battle. He has been training in Brazilian jiujitsu, hoping to gain an edge against his opponent. Musk announced that the fight would be managed by their respective foundations, rather than the UFC, and it would be livestreamed on the platforms X and Meta. The location for the event was a hot topic of discussion, with Musk confirming that it would be in an ancient Roman setting in Italy.

The Italian government has now confirmed that an "epic location" has been agreed upon to host the event. The Italian culture ministry, along with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, has been involved in selecting the venue. While the exact location remains undisclosed, speculations suggest it could be a historical site such as Pompeii, Herculaneum, or the ancient amphitheatre in Verona.

Musk hinted at potential locations by tweeting, "Get ready for the Fisticuffs in Florence or the Venom in Venice. Just not the Rumble in Rome." It seems that Rome, despite its historical significance, has been ruled out as a venue. However, Musk's references to ancient Rome indicate that the fight's ambiance will transport viewers back in time.

The fight will be a charitable event, with all proceeds going to veterans and pediatric hospitals. Musk also mentioned that subscribers to Twitter Blue would receive bonus material. The Italian culture minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano, expressed enthusiasm for the event and stated that it would be a "large charitable and historically evocative event."

Despite the excitement surrounding the upcoming match, there have been setbacks in the planning process. Italian officials clarified that the fight will not be held in Rome, contrary to Musk's initial idea. Sangiuliano confirmed that discussions were underway to organize the event in a historical setting while respecting the sites.

Both Zuckerberg and Musk have displayed their enthusiasm for the fight, with Zuckerberg training in MMA gyms since September. While Musk has a size advantage, Zuckerberg's experience in the sport may give him an edge. However, Musk recently revealed a shoulder problem that could require surgery and impact his performance.

As the anticipation builds, the tech world eagerly awaits the announcement of the official date and location for the Zuckerberg-Musk showdown in Italy.
