17:00 19.08.2023

In a shocking incident at Denver International Airport, a United Airlines pilot was caught on video attacking a parking arm with an ax. The pilot, identified as Kenneth Henderson Jones, allegedly claimed that he had reached his breaking point. The incident occurred on August 2nd when Jones was seen walking towards the exit gate of an employee parking lot, wielding a full-size ax. CBS News Colorado obtained the footage, which showed Jones repeatedly striking the lowered parking arm until it fell off. As a car entered the lot to his left, Jones continued his attack on the parking arm, eventually causing an estimated $700 in damage.

The video then cuts to an airport worker attempting to disarm Jones, who fiercely clings to the ax. Another employee arrives to assist and eventually manages to wrestle the weapon away from the pilot. Airport officials described the incident as a "physical struggle" but confirmed that no one was injured. The police apprehended Jones shortly after the incident near the airport.

Jones was charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief for his actions. When questioned by Adams County sheriff's deputies, he explained that he had simply reached his breaking point. Jones claimed that he was trying to leave the parking lot but was frustrated by the long lines at each of the three exit gates. He stated that he was attempting to resolve the issues faced by all the waiting vehicles.

Following the incident, Jones was immediately removed from the schedule by United Airlines. The airline has initiated an internal investigation into the matter. Jones, who is rated to fly Boeing 767s and 757s according to FAA records, did not respond to requests for comment from CBS Colorado.

Jones is scheduled to appear in Adams County Court on September 25th. This unusual incident has left many questioning the pilot's motives and mental state. The damages caused by the ax attack were estimated at $700, while the value of the parking lot arm was listed as $300. The investigation continues as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding this bizarre event.
