Tripod, the 3-legged bear, raids Florida family's fridge for White Claws

In a surprising turn of events, a three-legged bear made quite the entrance into a Florida family's home, helping himself to some refreshing beverages and becoming the life of the party. The black bear, affectionately known as Tripod in the Lake Mary community, has been spotted roaming the area and causing a stir among locals. However, it was during a recent visit to the Diglio family that Tripod truly made his mark.

The encounter was captured on the family's security camera on August 3, leaving the Diglios both amazed and concerned. Thirteen-year-old Joseph Diglio can be heard exclaiming, "Oh my God. I've never been this close to a bear," as he filmed the bear prowling around their enclosed patio. The video shows Tripod clattering over items and even tearing a hole in the porch screen. But his mischievous antics didn't end there.

According to Josaury Faneite-Diglio, Joseph's mother, Tripod helped himself to some fish food near the family's fish tank before making his way to the bar. It was there that the bear discovered a stash of White Claw hard seltzers, a popular alcoholic beverage with fruity flavors. Unfazed by his surroundings, Tripod popped open three cans of the refreshing drink, indulging in his favorite flavors of mango and strawberry.

Joseph's initial amazement quickly turned to concern when he realized that Tripod had the ability to open doors. Fearing that the bear could enter their home, Joseph took precautions and locked all the doors around the house. Meanwhile, his mother maintained a more relaxed approach, stating, "I was not scared because we know the bear really well. He lives here; we respect their habitat as much as we can."

This incident is not the first time that bears have helped themselves to human indulgences. In August 2022, a man in West Hartford, Connecticut, encountered a black bear in his kitchen. The bear, initially satisfied with a bag of marshmallows, returned days later, even knocking through a screen door in search of more treats. Eventually, the man sought the help of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, who set up a humane trap using donuts as bait.

The Diglio family's encounter with Tripod, however, ended on a lighter note. Eventually scared off by the family's dog, Bruno, Tripod left the same way he came, through the hole in the porch screen. Joseph, reflecting on the incident, simply shrugged it off, stating that encounters with wildlife are just part of living in their area. Meanwhile, Faneite-Diglio emphasized that Tripod is a beloved member of their Seminole County neighborhood.

This bear's unexpected escapade has captured the attention of many, showcasing the sometimes humorous interactions between humans and wildlife. While it serves as a reminder to respect and coexist with animals in their natural habitats, it also adds an amusing anecdote to the stories shared by the Diglio family and their community.
