Property line dispute leads to fatal shooting in Florida

17:03 18.09.2023

In a shocking incident in DeLeon Springs, Florida, a 78-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of his neighbor. Edward Druzolowski allegedly shot and killed 42-year-old Brian Ford after a dispute over trimming trees along their shared property line. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, and Druzolowski was taken into custody and booked into the Volusia County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder.

According to the Volusia Sheriff's Office, Ford was trimming tree limbs along the fence line between 1880 and 1890 Alameda Drive when Druzolowski confronted him about being on his property. The confrontation escalated, with Druzolowski reportedly threatening to shoot Ford. When Ford did not leave, Druzolowski followed through on his threat and shot him. Authorities received two 911 calls reporting the shooting, and deputies arrived at the scene to find Ford in critical condition.

Deputies attempted to revive Ford while waiting for paramedics, but unfortunately, their efforts were in vain, and Ford succumbed to his injuries. The sheriff's office confirmed that he died at the scene. This tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of their neighbor.

As Druzolowski awaits his court appearance, he remains in custody without bond. In Florida, a charge of second-degree murder carries a minimum sentence of 16 and a half years in prison, with a maximum penalty of life behind bars. It is unclear at this time if Druzolowski will invoke Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, which permits the use of lethal force in self-defense.

The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and investigators are working to gather more information about the incident. The community will undoubtedly be looking for answers as they process this senseless act of violence.

DeLeon Springs, a small town located approximately 55 miles north of Orlando, is now grappling with the aftermath of this tragedy. The loss of Brian Ford has left a void in the community, and residents are coming together to support each other during this difficult time.
