Linda Evangelista claims she was abused by ex-husband Gerald Marie in new doc

In the groundbreaking documentary "The Super Models," iconic supermodel Linda Evangelista courageously revealed the harrowing details of her abusive marriage to ex-husband Gerald Marie. Joined by fellow supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Christy Turlington, Evangelista shared her personal journey in both her career and personal life. The documentary shed light on the dark side of the fashion industry and exposed Marie's alleged abusive behavior.

Marie, who had served as the CEO of Elite Model Management's Paris office, met Evangelista in 1987 when she was just 22 years old, while he was 15 years her senior. The couple tied the knot, but their marriage was marred by violence and turmoil. Evangelista disclosed in the documentary that leaving an abusive relationship is not as simple as it seems, stating, "It's easier said than done to leave an abusive relationship. I understand that concept because I lived it." She further explained that Marie knew not to touch her face, referring to it as her "moneymaker."

Finally finding the strength to escape, Evangelista ended their marriage in 1993 at the age of 27. "He let me out as long as he got everything," she revealed. Although Marie's lawyer denied the allegations, Evangelista's candid account shed light on the trauma she endured during their relationship.

The documentary also highlighted Marie's alleged pattern of sexual assault and rape. At least 15 women came forward, accusing Marie of these heinous acts, which reportedly occurred in the '80s and '90s. However, French prosecutors closed the investigation due to the statute of limitations. Evangelista expressed her heartbreak upon discovering the extent of Marie's actions, stating, "When I found out that he's hurt many, many, many women, he's violated many women ... it broke my heart."

Evangelista commended the bravery of the women who came forward and shared their stories, emphasizing the importance of justice and accountability. "I would love that justice be served. I would love for a-holes like that to think twice and be afraid. And I would love women to know that they're not alone," she passionately expressed.

Marie's attorneys vehemently denied the allegations, claiming that he had never committed any act of violence. They portrayed him as a scapegoat for a bygone era and system. Evangelista's representatives and Marie's lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comments.

Despite the pain and trauma, Evangelista found happiness and fulfillment in her life as a mother. After her marriage to Marie, she moved on and started a relationship with French businessman Fran?§ois-Henri Pinault. They welcomed a son named Augustin James Evangelista, and Evangelista declared that motherhood had become her whole life.

"The Super Models" documentary, available for streaming on Apple TV+, not only showcases the immense success of these legendary models but also delves into the darker side of the fashion industry, bringing to light the stories of courage, resilience, and the fight for justice.
