Abbott: Accusing Biden of Border Flooding with Razor Wire Cuts

10:03 21.09.2023

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has accused the Biden administration of cutting razor wire that the state had installed in Eagle Pass, escalating the ongoing dispute between Texas officials and the White House over the migrant crisis at the Southern border. Governor Abbott took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday evening to make the announcement. He explained that Texas had installed the razor wire in Eagle Pass to prevent illegal crossings, but the Biden administration had removed it, effectively "opening the floodgates to illegal immigrants."

In response to the removal of the razor wire, Governor Abbott swiftly deployed additional Texas National Guard personnel to deter illegal crossings and install more barriers. He also shared a picture of a letter he had sent directly to President Biden back in November, blaming the President's policies for causing "an invasion at our border." In the letter, Abbott stated that Texas was taking proactive measures to address the situation, such as building a border wall, installing razor wire, and implementing marine barriers to repel migrants.

This recent clash between Texas and the Biden administration is not the first of its kind. In July, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a lawsuit against Texas for erecting a buoy barrier on the Rio Grande as part of Abbott's Operation Lone Star, which aimed to curb illegal immigration. The DOJ argued that the barrier hindered the navigable capacity of US waters and raised concerns related to humanitarian, environmental, and public safety issues. Initially, a federal judge ordered Texas to remove the buoys, but the US Court of Appeals intervened and stayed the decision. The case is still ongoing in the courts.

Fox News Digital reached out to both Governor Abbott and the White House for their comments on the situation but has not received a response. Adam Shaw, a contributor to Fox News Digital, provided additional information for this report.
