DeSantis criticizes Biden for inaction, calls out Hamas attacks

23:43 07.10.2023

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized President Biden for his response to the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas. DeSantis accused Biden of "sleeping on the job" and called for stronger support for Israel, which is facing attacks from Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists. The governor made these comments during a campaign stop in Iowa, highlighting the need for leadership and clear support for Israel during this crisis.

Meanwhile, New York Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman, a member of the progressive group known as "The Squad," condemned the attacks by Hamas and called for an end to the Gaza blockade. Bowman expressed sadness for the loss of lives on both sides and emphasized the need to find a way to end the violence that is affecting generations of Israelis and Palestinians. He also mentioned his visit to the Gaza border, where he witnessed the fear experienced by both Israelis and Palestinians.

The conflict began when Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists launched thousands of rockets into Israel, resulting in over 200 Israeli casualties and nearly 1,000 wounded. Hamas military commander Mohammad Deif declared the start of the operation, urging Palestinians to attack Israelis and proclaiming it as the "day of the greatest battle to end the last occupation on earth."

In response, Israeli forces mobilized and moved troops to the Gaza border. Gunfire has already been reported as the forces approach each other. The IDF confirmed that Hamas has taken hostages and held prisoners of war in Gaza. Hospitals in Israel are treating a significant number of wounded, including civilians, with some in critical condition.

The situation has drawn international attention, with leaders and politicians expressing their opinions. DeSantis criticized the Biden administration's policy towards Iran, accusing them of playing nice with the country and suggesting that the recent release of frozen Iranian funds may have indirectly supported the Hamas attack on Israel.

The conflict in the Gaza Strip is an ongoing issue that has been at the center of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely as tensions remain high and casualties continue to rise.
