Mother gives birth to 'McFlurry' in McDonald's parking lot during snowstorm

In a surprising turn of events, a Wisconsin couple found themselves making an emergency stop at a McDonald's, not for a Big Mac, but instead to deliver their baby. Analysia Beck, a mother from Muskego, started going into labor late at night on January 12th, two weeks ahead of her due date. She woke up her husband, Daniel Beck, and informed him that they needed to head to the hospital immediately. "So I had him call the hospital and the hospital, of course, is asking all these questions, and they asked what my plan for pain was, and I [responded], 'An epidural immediately'," Analysia recounted.

However, their baby, later named Micah Daniel Beck but affectionately nicknamed "McFlurry," couldn't wait until they reached the safety of a medical center. Realizing they wouldn't make it in time, Analysia insisted they pull over. The couple quickly spotted the closest parking lot, which happened to be a McDonald's. Analysia climbed into the trunk of their SUV, ready to give birth. "Halfway through, I was just lying in our trunk, and I was like, 'Oh, my gosh. This is happening at McDonald's... I can't believe it,'" she exclaimed.

The couple called 911, but before paramedics arrived, baby Micah was already crowning. The snow began to fall, eventually accumulating 15 inches in Muskego. As the paramedics reached the Golden Arches parking lot, Micah was born. "As soon as I knew the paramedics were there, I pushed... [and] within minutes, they pretty much ran in and caught the baby," Analysia shared.

The combination of the winter weather and the unexpected birth location inspired the nickname McFlurry for the newborn. Other options such as "Mickey D's," "McBaby," and Small Fry were also considered. The atypical birth experience was not only memorable for Analysia but also for the first responders who witnessed it all unfold in the midst of a snowstorm.

Brianna Baltutis, a first responder from the Hales Corners Fire Department, expressed her surprise at being dispatched to deliver a baby rather than just transferring the mother to the hospital. "We got there and we were thinking we'd get her loaded up and to the hospital before she actually delivered the baby," she said. Baltutis, only 20 years old, felt honored to be a part of Analysia and Micah's story. "For me, there are people who will go through the fire service for 30-plus years and they won't ever deliver a baby, so I think that's super, super cool," she added. The young paramedic also appreciated the positive outcome, as many of the jobs she's called to do do not have happy endings.

Despite the chaotic and unexpected circumstances, the Becks are grateful for their new addition. "It was chaotic and terrifying, but it ended up beautiful, and we have a perfect little boy," Analysia said. The couple expressed their gratitude to all the responders who showed up to help with the delivery of their baby. The McDonald's parking lot may not have been their intended destination, but it will forever hold a special place in their hearts as the unique birthplace of their beloved "McFlurry.".
