In a recent episode of his podcast, "McCartney: My Life in Lyrics," Paul McCartney opened up about Yoko Ono's presence during the recording sessions for "The White Album" in 1968. McCartney revealed that the Beatles tolerated Ono's involvement in the studio out of deference to John Lennon, who insisted on her presence. However, McCartney described her presence as "interference in the workplace." Despite not particularly liking the situation, the band members chose to go along with Lennon's wishes. McCartney emphasized that this period of recording marked a time of change for the band, influenced by Lennon's intense relationship with Ono. He acknowledged that the dynamics of the group were inevitably affected by their union.

Before Ono began joining the Beatles in the studio, it had always been just the four band members and their engineer, George Martin. McCartney explained that they had always recorded in that manner, and as they were not confrontational, they chose to keep quiet and carry on. He stated, "This was our job, this is what we did in life. That meant if we didn't tour, we recorded."

The 81-year-old musician attributed his genial attitude to his father, who he described as gentlemanly and "polite." McCartney shared that his father encouraged them to be good people, raising their caps and greeting women politely. He fondly remembered his family being "that kind of polite, gentlemanly" despite their working-class background.

In a separate revelation, May Pang, Lennon's former girlfriend in the mid-1970s, disclosed that Lennon expressed interest in writing songs with McCartney again. Pang recounted a conversation with Lennon where he mentioned that McCartney and his wife Linda were planning to go to New Orleans to record a new album. Pang recalled Lennon's excitement at the prospect and his query about writing with McCartney. Although taken aback, Pang expressed her support for the idea. Lennon expressed a strong desire to make it happen, but unfortunately, it never came to fruition.

Pang also shed light on her relationship with Lennon, which ended when he reconciled with Ono. She revealed that Ono played a role in setting up her relationship with Lennon during a challenging time in their marriage. Pang initially resisted but eventually fell for Lennon's charm. Even after he reunited with Ono, Lennon secretly met with Pang and professed his love for her. Their relationship continued until his untimely death in 1980. Pang shared intimate details of their connection in the documentary "The Lost Weekend: A Love Story."

Pang further disclosed that she captured the last known photograph of Lennon and McCartney together in March 1974 at a beach house in Santa Monica. She described their relationship during that time as being "like kids on a first date" and expressed her sorrow over Lennon's absence. Pang emphasized the strong bond they once shared and expressed her regret that they never had the opportunity to collaborate again. During their time together, Lennon and McCartney penned nearly 200 songs, leaving an indelible mark on the Beatles' legacy.
