Georgia jail break: Murder suspect and three others on the run

21:30 16.10.2023

Four inmates, including a murder suspect, have successfully escaped from the Bibb County Detention Center in Macon, Georgia. The inmates fled the facility early Monday morning by exploiting a damaged window and a cut fence, as stated by the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. At approximately 3 a.m., the fugitives made their getaway in a waiting blue Dodge Challenger. The escaped inmates have been identified as Joey Fournier, 52, who is facing murder charges; Marc Kerry Anderson, 24, accused of aggravated assault; Johnifer Dernard Barnwell, 37, detained by the U.S. Marshals for federal drug charges; and Chavis Demaryo Stokes, 29, who is facing firearm possession and drug trafficking charges.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, FBI, and U.S. Marshals, are actively searching for the escapees. During a press conference, Bibb County Sheriff David Davis expressed uncertainty regarding the whereabouts of the fugitives, speculating that they may have separated. Sheriff Davis implored the public to come forward with any information that could aid in their capture, stating, "Somebody that sees this tonight knows where these four people are, and somebody is probably laughing at the TV set saying, 'They'll never get us.' We will catch them. They will come back to jail. It's just a matter of time."

Bibb County, located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, is currently on high alert as authorities intensify their efforts to apprehend the escaped inmates. This recent incident follows a similar prison escape last month, when convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante managed to evade authorities in a Pennsylvania prison for nearly two weeks.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office has established a tip line, urging residents to report any sightings or information related to the escapees. The public can also contact Macon Regional Crime Stoppers with anonymous tips at 877-682-7463. The search for the fugitives continues, as law enforcement remains determined to bring them back into custody.
