06:31 19.11.2023

The tragic events unfolded on Saturday night in Memphis, Tennessee, as a series of shootings claimed the lives of three women and a 13-year-old girl. The suspect behind the killings, identified as Mavis Christian Jr., 52, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Memphis Police Department.

The police described the horrifying rampage as a domestic violence situation, stating that Christian Jr. was a "known relative" to the victims. The first shooting took place at Field Lark Drive, where authorities discovered the lifeless bodies of the teenager and another victim at the scene just after 5:40 p.m. In a critical condition, a 15-year-old female was rushed to Regional One Health for medical treatment.

An hour later, at approximately 6:40 p.m., law enforcement officers were alerted to a second shooting at 5050 Warrington Road, approximately 13 miles away from the initial incident. Tragically, the third victim was found dead and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The wave of violence continued as a third shooting occurred nearly three hours later. A fourth female was discovered with an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead. The police later found Christian Jr.'s lifeless body inside a white Chevrolet Malibu early Sunday.

The devastating nature of these events was evident as MPD Public Information Officer Christopher Williams addressed the media outside the first shooting scene. As a father himself, Williams expressed his heartbreak, emphasizing that the victims were not just statistics but real people. He called for the community to come together to prevent such senseless acts of violence, stating, "We have to do better. We must do better. It takes all of us."

While the police have confirmed that Christian Jr. is a "known relative," they have yet to release information regarding his exact relation to the victims, the motive behind the shootings, or the identities of the victims. This story is still developing, and authorities are working tirelessly to gather more details.

In response to the escalating situation, a manhunt is currently underway for Mavis Christian Jr. Memphis Police Department has labeled him as "armed and extremely dangerous." They have connected the killing of a woman on Howard Drive at around 9:20 p.m. to the two other fatal shootings that occurred earlier. The suspect is believed to have fled each scene in a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu with the Tennessee license plate number 390-BHTM.

The first of these shootings took place on Fieldlark Drive, resulting in the death of a woman and a 13-year-old girl. Another 15-year-old girl was left in critical condition. The second shooting, located on Warrington Road, nearly 13 miles away, claimed the life of another woman.

Law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels are collaborating to locate Christian Jr. and bring him to justice. They have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the suspect or his vehicle immediately by calling 911.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to this tragedy. The victims' identities and their relationship to the suspect have not yet been disclosed. The community of Memphis is left mourning the loss of innocent lives and demanding an end to such acts of violence.
