A tragic shooting at a block party in Memphis, Tennessee, has left two people dead and multiple others injured, authorities said. The incident took place near Orange Mound Park, south of Simons Bank Liberty Stadium, where as many as 300 people were in attendance. The shooting was reported around 7:39 p.m., with initial reports indicating 16 total victims. However, the number was later revised down to eight as some individuals were counted more than once.

Interim Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn “CJ” Davis stated that at least two suspects are being sought in connection with the shooting. Five people were found with gunshot wounds at the scene, with two males pronounced dead and three others rushed to local hospitals. Additionally, 11 more gunshot victims arrived at hospitals in private vehicles.

The circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation. The injured individuals, including three in critical condition, are currently receiving medical treatment. The names of the deceased victims have not been released at this time.
