Ole Miss staffer behind Penn State fan account

20:02 30.12.2023

In a heartwarming turn of events, Capt. Shalesa Perry surprised her father, James Perry, on his birthday during the Peach Bowl game between Ole Miss and Penn State. The game itself was a momentous occasion for Ole Miss, as they walloped Penn State, securing their first 11-win season in program history. However, it was the surprise reunion between Capt. Perry and her parents that stole the show.

During the first quarter of the game, James Perry was recognized for his time as an operator for Chick-fil-A, the sponsor for the bowl. Little did he know that this recognition was part of a larger plan. As James and his wife watched a video message from their daughter on the stadium's big screen, they were completely unaware that she was actually present at the game. After the video ended, Capt. Perry walked through the tunnel, surprising not only her parents but also everyone in attendance.

The emotional moment unfolded rapidly as the mother sprinted towards her daughter, embracing her in a tight hug. The entire stadium erupted in applause, giving the Perry family a standing ovation. Capt. Perry even took the time to high-five some of the fans, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity among the crowd. The fact that this heartwarming reunion occurred on James' birthday only added to the significance of the moment.

While the surprise reunion stole the spotlight, the game itself was a resounding victory for Ole Miss. Led by quarterback Jaxson Dart, who passed for 379 yards and three touchdowns, Ole Miss dominated Penn State with a final score of 38-25. Dart's two touchdown passes to tight end Caden Prieskorn, along with his own rushing touchdown, helped secure the win for Ole Miss. The team's offensive prowess was evident as they gained a staggering 541 yards against Penn State, more than double the average yards allowed by the Nittany Lions throughout the season.

In a surprising twist leading up to the game, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin unknowingly shared posts from a Penn State account on social media, believing it to be a source of motivation. However, it was later revealed that the account, @WEARE_PENNST23, was actually created by one of Ole Miss' own staff members, Fisher Ray, as a playful prank. Kiffin, upon learning the truth, expressed amusement and relief that the prank did not serve as bulletin board material for Penn State.

Overall, the Peach Bowl was a memorable event filled with both on-field triumphs and heartwarming reunions. Ole Miss celebrated their first bowl win since 2020 while simultaneously bringing together fans from both teams to witness a beautiful moment of love and surprise.
