Colts' Drew Ogletree Arrested for Domestic Battery

05:24 31.12.2023

Indianapolis Colts tight end Drew Ogletree has been arrested and charged with domestic violence, according to court records. The 25-year-old is facing charges of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child under 16 and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both of which are felonies. The incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday in Hendricks County, when Ogletree's partner discovered that he was cheating on her after looking at his phone.

According to The Indianapolis Star, the probable cause affidavit states that Ogletree body-slammed the woman to the ground after she attempted to smack him. However, she denies ever hitting him. Responding officers from the Avon Police Department found the woman in pain and unable to move. She was immediately taken to the hospital for a thorough assessment of her injuries.

Ogletree is currently being held without bond at the Hendricks County Jail and is scheduled for a court hearing on Tuesday. A no-contact order has also been issued. The Colts released a statement acknowledging the arrest, stating that they are aware of the "disturbing allegations" and are taking the matter seriously. They have notified the NFL and are gathering more information.

The NFL has since placed Ogletree on the commissioner exempt list, which means he is not allowed to practice or attend games while on the list, according to a statement attributed to an NFL spokesperson. Ogletree's attorney listed in court records has not yet responded to messages from the Associated Press.

Ogletree, a sixth-round pick out of Youngstown State in the 2022 draft, has been a significant contributor to the Colts this season. He has recorded nine catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns. The team, currently standing at 8-7, is in pursuit of a playoff spot and is scheduled to play against the Las Vegas Raiders at home on Sunday.

This is not the first setback for Ogletree, as he missed his entire rookie season due to a torn ACL suffered during Colts training camp. The incident involving domestic violence has raised serious concerns about his future with the team and the potential legal consequences he may face.
