Texas Toddler Teaches Dogs to "Say Grace" in Viral Video

03:45 03.01.2024

In a heartwarming display of family tradition, a Texas toddler has taken on the responsibility of leading her three dogs in saying grace before their meal. Alora Brim, a three-year-old from Round Rock, Texas, has become an internet sensation after her mother, Katie Brim, shared a video on social media that garnered over 1.1 million Instagram likes.

In the viral video, Alora can be seen confidently walking with three dog food bowls towards the family's back door. Once outside, she instructs the dogs to "say grace," and to everyone's surprise, all three dogs obediently lie down. Alora then places the dogs' bowls in front of them and claps her hands, concluding with a heartfelt "Amen," which prompts the dogs to begin eating their meal.

The idea of training their three dogs in this unique manner originated from Alora's father, Freddy Brim. He had come across a sketch of dogs covering their snouts to say grace and wanted to establish a sense of control by making them wait for permission to eat. The dogs, named Maverick, Rosie, and Ash, quickly adapted to the routine, and when Alora expressed her desire to join in, the family happily welcomed her.

"She wants to help with all the chores," Freddy Brim explained. "So, she's been helping carry the food out to them, and she started mimicking me." It took a moment for the parents to realize that Alora was actually saying "grace," but once they understood, it became her cherished responsibility. Freddy jokingly added, "Now, that's kind of her thing, so I'm not allowed to feed the dogs."

While the Brim family does not consider themselves particularly religious, they describe themselves as spiritual people, especially after experiencing a tragic loss. In August 2022, their youngest child, Tristan, passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) at just three months old. Katie Brim shared that this heartbreaking event changed their perspective on life, causing them to appreciate even the smallest things, such as their beloved dogs.

"Being present and being grateful for even the small things, like having your dogs that your children love so much... is important to me," Katie Brim expressed. The family finds solace and a sense of accomplishment in Alora's involvement with the dogs, as she has developed a strong bond with them.

However, the Brims prioritize safety and never allow Alora to feed the dogs without parental supervision. They ensure that this heartwarming tradition remains a joyful and secure experience for their little girl.

Alora Brim's adorable act of leading her dogs in saying grace has captured the hearts of millions online, reminding us all of the power of family traditions and the importance of gratitude.
