Samsung's Galaxy S24: Pioneering AI Integration to Rival iPhone

18:04 17.01.2024

Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, made a bold move on Wednesday as it unveiled its latest lineup of Galaxy smartphones during its annual product launch event in San Jose, California. The company aims to regain its position as the world's biggest phone seller, which it lost to Apple, by offering a suite of baked-in AI tools and innovative features.

The focus of Samsung's new smartphones is on artificial intelligence, marking a significant shift from its previous hardware-heavy approach. The next-generation lineup includes three models: the Galaxy S24, priced at $799.99, the Galaxy S24 Plus, priced at $999.99, and the high-end Galaxy S24 Ultra, priced at $1,299.99. Notably, the Galaxy S24 Ultra's price represents an 8% increase, or $100, from last year's comparable model, following a similar strategy employed by Apple with its iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Preorders for the new Galaxy smartphones began on Wednesday, with shipping scheduled to start on January 31. Samsung hopes that the inclusion of various AI integrations will attract consumers. One of the standout features is the live foreign language interpretation during calls. Users will be able to access this function, which supports 13 languages and 17 dialects, for calls made to and from any type of smartphone or landline. The feature also saves users' preferred language settings and collects data on language usage during phone calls.

In addition to the language interpretation feature, Samsung has partnered with Google to offer "Circle To Search" on its newest Galaxy smartphones. This feature allows users to circle snippets of text, parts of photos, or videos to instantly obtain search results related to the highlighted content. This integration aims to provide users with a seamless and efficient search experience.

Furthermore, the new Galaxy phones will introduce enhanced photo editing tools powered by AI. These tools will enable users to manipulate the appearance and placement of specific parts of pictures taken with the devices' cameras. While this feature offers the potential for users to refine their photos, there are concerns that it may also facilitate the creation of misleading images.

Samsung's strategic focus on AI tools and integrations reflects the company's determination to regain market share and outshine its competitors. By offering innovative features such as live foreign language interpretation, instant search results, and AI-powered photo editing tools, Samsung aims to appeal to a wider audience and reclaim its position as the leading smartphone manufacturer.
