Netflix has announced that social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul will be facing off against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a highly anticipated bout on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The streaming platform will provide live coverage of the event, which is set to be one of Netflix's most ambitious forays into sports programming and live entertainment.

Paul, 27, has built a significant fan following as a YouTube influencer and turned professional in boxing four years ago. With a record of nine wins and one loss, including six knockouts, Paul will be looking to prove himself against the legendary Tyson, who was the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987-90 and retired in 2005 with 50 wins, 44 by knockout.

In a statement, Tyson expressed his excitement about stepping into the ring with Paul, acknowledging the younger boxer's growth in the sport. The event marks a full circle moment for Paul, who made his second professional fight on the undercard of the Tyson-Jones exhibition in 2020.

The fight is the result of a partnership between Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions, a company co-founded by Paul and Nakisa Bidarian in 2021. This collaboration aims to provide more creative control to fighters and showcases Netflix's commitment to expanding its sports content offerings.

With the fight set to take place at the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium, fans can expect a thrilling showdown between the two fighters. Tyson's return to the ring against the controversial Paul is sure to generate buzz and draw viewers from around the world, solidifying Netflix's status as a premiere destination for at-home entertainment.
