Deadly shooting at Nashville Easter brunch leaves one dead and five wounded

11:30 01.04.2024

A manhunt is currently underway for a suspect identified as Anton Rucker, who is accused of opening fire during an Easter brunch at the Roasted restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. The shooting, which took place around 3 p.m., resulted in the death of 33-year-old Allen Beachem and left several others injured, although their injuries were not critical. Among the wounded was a pregnant woman who suffered a panic attack during the chaos.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the suspect fled the scene in a gray Mercedes GLS 450, which was found abandoned about two miles away from the restaurant. Rucker, a 46-year-old convicted felon with a history of aggravated assault charges, has been arrested multiple times in the past on various charges including gun and drug offenses.

Witnesses described the scene inside the restaurant as one of mass chaos, with customers trying to escape the gunfire. Police believe the altercation between the suspect and the victim escalated rapidly, leading to the shooting. Surveillance footage showed the suspect brandishing a handgun, while police emphasized that this was not a shootout but rather an isolated incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Rucker's whereabouts to contact the police department. The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to determine the motive behind the shooting. The community is shocked by the violence that unfolded on what was supposed to be a day of celebration and are hoping for a swift resolution to bring the suspect to justice.
