Tragic bike race ends in fatal shooting by 10-year-old, mother alleges

In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, a 10-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of shooting another child to death in California. The victim's mother, Brittani Frierson, has claimed that the shooting occurred after the two boys had a bicycle race. The victim, Keith KJ Frierson, was found bleeding from the head and neck in a Californian suburb on Saturday. Police arrested the 10-year-old suspect and his father, 53-year-old Arkete Davis. According to Ms. Frierson, the boy suspect became a "sore loser" after losing the race and took aim at KJ. She had given KJ permission to ride the bike, which he had received as a Christmas gift, just 15 minutes before the tragic incident occurred.

Ms. Frierson recounted the horrifying events, stating that she screamed for hours after seeing her son lying on the ground. She was informed about what happened by a neighbor's child who had also participated in the race. According to the neighbor's child, the boy angrily walked off after losing the race and returned with a gun, shooting KJ in the neck without uttering a word. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Amar Gandhi confirmed that Ms. Frierson had shared this account with them.

The 10-year-old suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while his father, Davis, faces charges of carrying a stolen, loaded firearm in a vehicle, child endangerment, and being an accessory to a crime after the fact. Police believe that the boy found the loaded gun in his father's truck while retrieving cigarettes for him. He then proceeded to shoot the victim once before fleeing into a nearby apartment. Davis allegedly attempted to hide the gun by throwing it into a nearby bin.

Describing her son, Ms. Frierson spoke of his kind and helpful nature. KJ was known for assisting older women in their neighborhood with carrying their groceries. Neighbors gathered for a vigil to remember him as a generous, smart, and friendly boy. KJ had joined the Junior Football Mustangs last year, and the team expressed their sorrow at his passing, stating that he would be deeply missed by his teammates and friends.

Ms. Frierson holds Davis responsible for the tragedy, accusing him of trying to cover up the incident instead of helping her son. She vows to seek justice for KJ, stating that Davis will pay for his actions. Davis remains in jail, with a bail of $500,000 in place. It has been revealed that he is an ex-criminal who was legally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm. The gun used in the shooting had been reported stolen in 2017. It is unclear whether Davis has legal representation at this time.

The community is left devastated by this senseless act of violence, mourning the loss of a young boy who brought joy and kindness to those around him. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on seeking justice for KJ and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
