Paris Hilton Faces Backlash for Vacationing in Maui During Wildfire Devastation

Despite the ongoing devastation caused by wildfires in Lahaina, Paris Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, were spotted enjoying a vacation in Maui with their 8-month-old son, Phoenix. Photos obtained by The Post show Hilton carrying her son around an exclusive resort in Wailea, just 30 miles away from the flame-engulfed area.

Social media users quickly expressed their outrage, criticizing Hilton for her seemingly disconnected behavior. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "Paris Hilton heard about the Maui wildfire devastation and said 'That's hot.'" Another user questioned Hilton's lack of empathy, asking, "Are they supposed to be sad and stay indoors bc strangers are going through a crisis?" The backlash continued, with users calling Hilton's actions disgusting and accusing her of being "disconnected from reality."

The timing of Hilton's vacation comes after the Maui County Emergency Management Agency urged tourists to leave the island due to the wildfires, which have claimed the lives of 96 people. "Visitors who are on non-essential travel are being asked to leave Maui, and non-essential travel to Maui is strongly discouraged at this time," the agency stated.

However, a source close to Hilton defended her presence in Hawaii, explaining that the trip was initially planned as a family vacation. They also revealed Hilton's efforts to help those affected by the wildfires, stating that she and Reum had donated supplies to local shelters and places accepting donations.

While some criticized Hilton for her vacation, others came to her defense, arguing that she was on the other side of the island and not seeking attention like Oprah Winfrey, who also resides in Maui part-time. They believed the media should focus on the wildfire crisis instead of Hilton's actions.

In addition to Hilton, actor Jason Momoa, a native of Honolulu, also urged people not to travel to Maui during this time of crisis. He encouraged travelers to cancel their planned trips and emphasized the importance of supporting the community.

Despite the backlash, Hilton's presence in Maui appears to have been motivated by a desire to help her family and contribute to relief efforts. As the wildfires continue to ravage the island, the focus remains on supporting the affected residents and rebuilding the devastated communities.
