In a shocking and tragic incident, a 14-year-old boy from Riverview, Florida, has been arrested and charged with multiple felony charges, including second-degree murder with a weapon and first-degree premeditated attempted murder with a firearm. The boy is accused of shooting his own mother dead and critically injuring her boyfriend.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received multiple 911 calls on Saturday afternoon, alerting them to the incident in the Summerfield subdivision. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the 14-year-old boy pointing a firearm at his own head, threatening to take his own life. A tense negotiation lasting 16 minutes ensued, during which deputies fired a non-lethal projectile at the boy to prevent him from reaching for the gun again. Eventually, he was taken into custody without further incident.

Meanwhile, another call had come in about a man who had fled his home after being shot five times in the torso, hands, and face. The victim was identified as the boyfriend of the suspect's mother. He was rushed to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition. Tragically, the suspect's mother was discovered lifeless in the driveway of a nearby home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
