In the early hours of Saturday morning, Nicholas Bollea, the son of WWE legend Hulk Hogan, was arrested in Clearwater, Florida for driving under the influence. This arrest occurred in the same city where Bollea was involved in a car crash 16 years ago that critically injured a passenger. The arrest took place after Bollea failed to move over a lane for three patrol vehicles conducting a traffic stop, according to an arrest affidavit. The arresting sergeant reported that Bollea showed signs of impairment and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Bollea also refused to take a breath alcohol content test and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, along with unsteady balance.

Bollea, 33, was taken into custody at 1:42 a.m. and charged with a misdemeanor of driving under the influence and refusing to take the breath alcohol content test. He was later released the same evening after posting a $500 bond. This incident comes after Bollea's involvement in a car crash in Clearwater back in August 2007, which resulted in the critical injury of passenger John Graziano. According to witnesses, two cars were racing each other before one hit a tree. Graziano, a veteran, suffered severe brain injuries and was put on life support following the crash.

In 2008, Bollea turned himself in and pleaded no contest to a charge of reckless driving with serious bodily harm. He was subsequently sentenced to eight months in jail. During his trial, it was alleged that alcohol was involved in the crash, with some even accusing Hulk Hogan of supplying alcohol to his underage son. Bollea was also sentenced to five years of probation, 500 community service hours, and a three-year license suspension. However, due to good behavior, he was released after serving approximately six months.

The Graziano family filed a lawsuit against the Hogans, seeking compensation for the lifetime of care required for John Graziano. Hulk Hogan spoke about the crash and its impact on his son, stating that it was a wake-up call and caused a complete turnaround in his son's perspective on life. Hogan emphasized that while the crash was not a good thing, it happened for a reason and served as a catalyst for positive change.

In 2010, Nick Hogan appeared on Good Morning America to discuss the devastating accident. He expressed the ongoing difficulty in moving on from such a traumatic event and revealed that there were days when he couldn't even get out of bed. Despite the challenges, he stated that he prays every day for the strength to deal with it and acknowledged that it is something he carries with him daily.

Prior to the 2007 crash, Bollea had a history of multiple speeding tickets in Florida. He is the son of Hulk Hogan and his ex-wife Linda, with whom he shares a daughter, Brooke, who is now 35 years old.
