Teen and father arrested for fatal shooting of pregnant couple

11:09 05.01.2024

In a shocking turn of events, a 19-year-old and his father have been arrested and charged in connection with the murders of pregnant Texas teen Savanah Soto and her boyfriend Matthew Guerra. The young couple was found fatally shot on December 26th, four days after Soto reportedly missed her scheduled induction date. Christopher Preciado, 19, has been indicted for capital murder, while his father, Ramon Preciado, 53, is facing charges of abuse of a corpse.

According to police records, Christopher Preciado confessed to killing the couple inside Guerra's car but claimed he had acted in self-defense. He alleged that Soto and Guerra had driven to his home to sell him marijuana when Guerra pulled out a weapon. Preciado stated that he wrestled Guerra for the gun, resulting in the fatal shooting of both Guerra and Soto. However, police have stated that this account is inconsistent with the headshot wounds suffered by the victims.

Further evidence supporting the theory of a drug deal gone wrong includes the fact that Guerra was known to be involved in selling drugs and frequently posted pictures on social media showcasing drugs and large amounts of cash. Guerra's family informed the police that he had been targeted for robbery in the past, indicating a potential motive for the murders.

The investigation took a significant turn when surveillance footage was released earlier this week, showing two men at the crime scene. One suspect was seen driving Guerra's Kia Optima, while the other suspect was driving a dark pickup truck. The man in the truck was observed wiping down the Optima's door with a white towel before both vehicles drove off. Police believe that Soto and Guerra were already deceased and inside the car when the video was recorded.

The breakthrough in the case came when Soto's cellphone was found alongside her body. This crucial piece of evidence led investigators directly to the crime scene, leading to the arrest of Christopher and Ramon Preciado. Ramon Preciado denied the allegations of a drug deal gone wrong, shouting at reporters as he was placed into a police cruiser.

San Antonio investigators strongly believe that drug dealing played a significant role in the murders. The Preciados are now facing charges in connection with the deaths of Soto, Guerra, and their unborn child. The unborn baby was also declared dead at the scene.

The San Antonio Police Department expressed their condolences to the Soto and Guerra families, while also stating that they are no longer seeking any other suspects in the case. It remains to be seen how the trial will unfold and what further charges may be brought against the accused.
