'Days of Our Lives' Producer Alarr Forced Out Over Misconduct Probe

16:25 06.08.2023

Longtime "Days of Our Lives" co-executive producer Albert Alarr has been ousted from his position following a nine-week misconduct investigation. The decision to remove Alarr came after multiple accusations of inappropriate comments, bullying, groping female cast members, and fostering a toxic work environment. These allegations prompted a petition signed by over two dozen cast members and the launch of an investigation into gender disparity in pay and layoffs earlier this year.

At least 25 people associated with the show, including former cast member Farah Galfond, supported the petition, shedding light on the severity of the situation. Galfond, who had worked on the show from 1999 to 2007, shared her personal experience with Alarr, stating that he made her feel uncomfortable during a sex scene and disregarded her concerns.

In response to the allegations, Alarr released a statement denying all claims and expressing his disappointment in the studios' decision to remove him. He asserted that he had never received any prior complaints throughout his decades-long career in the entertainment industry. Alarr criticized the studios for bowing down to what he perceived as a "cynical pressure campaign" aimed at forcing him out.

The accusations against Alarr included inappropriate comments, physical contact, and the creation of an uncomfortable work environment. Former cast member Lisa Rinna, who portrayed Billie Reed on the show, showed her support for the petition by expressing solidarity with the cast members on social media. Rinna called on the show's executive producer and Sony Pictures Television to take the allegations seriously and protect the talent involved.

In response to the petition and the mounting allegations, series executive producer Ken Corday announced Alarr's departure from the show. Corday also appointed Janet Drucker as Alarr's successor and promised an increased Human Resources presence on set. He assured the cast and crew that shooting schedules would remain unchanged.

"Days of Our Lives," a long-running soap opera that premiered in 1965 and currently airs on NBC's streaming service Peacock, has faced significant backlash following the allegations against Alarr. Many have called for a change in the show's leadership and improved working conditions to prevent such incidents in the future.
